I could use your votes on Blockhead Radio Live
I would love for you to vote for my clutch in the Artisan's Challenge. I think my clutch is unique because it is made from a nice thick vinyl placemat. The placemat provides a waterproof lining for the clutch. The outer layer of the clutch is a pretty, cotton, feather fabric. I have added a snap closure with a decorative vintage button.
If you are so inclined, I would love for you to vote for my item. Voting continues through April 6.

thank you.

A beautiful email I received
How to Dance in the Rain
It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80's arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.It was a busy morning, about 8:30, when an elderly gentleman in his 80's arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He said he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.
I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would be able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate hi s wound. On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.
While taking care of his wound, I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry.
The gentleman t old me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I inquired as to her health.
He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's Disease.
As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late.
He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now.
I was surprised, and asked him, 'And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?'
He smiled as he patted my hand and said, 'She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is.'
I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought, 'That is the kind of love I want in my life.'
True love is neither physical, nor romantic.
True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.
With all the jokes and fun that are in e-mails, sometimes there is one that comes along that has an important message. This one I thought I could share with you. The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have.
I hope you share this with someone you care about. I just did.

Finally added a new pillow
It may not seem like a big deal but actually finding time to create a new pillow has been a challenge. This time of year finds me collecting receipts, calculating business expenses, inventory costs and the like for the dreaded IRS.
Of course it would be easier if I used an automated accounting system and actually recorded to it daily but that wouldn't give me the adrenalin rush that scrounging around for paperwork gives me. I still would rather record in a paper ledger than online. Not sure why but that is how we did it in accounting class way back when.
Well must run. Off to find more free advertising space.....

I hate desperate spammers
To my spammers, and there are many of you on the various sites on which I participate:
I know we are all here to further our careers but I find it troubling when I am left tons of comments for me to view your sites and sign up for your services before you have even taken a peek at my shops. I am not looking for any get rich quick schemes. If that is your angle, than I am not your gal. If you have useful pointers on how I can improve what I am doing, I may listen. Isn't the first rule of marketing Know Your Audience? Spamming any newcomer or oldie here isn't going to earn you any long term customers, but then again that isn't what you want, is it? You want a quick buck. I guess your new role model will me Bernie Madoff.

Help the independent dealers
Time to Unite
As parents and concerned citizens I’m sure most of us at one time or another have been confronted with the question of lead poisoning. But have you asked yourself what your government is doing to protect your children from lead contained in toys? The answer? They're banning toys, taking books from schools and libraries, hurting low income families, killing entrepreneurial spirit and risking putting the economy in an even greater depression than we've seen in decades. I'd like to introduce you to their solution: the CPSIA.Do you know about the CPSIA? No? Then I ask you to take a few minutes to find out about it.
The CPSIA stands for Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, a new set of laws that will come into effect on 10 February, 2009 and will impact many, many people in a negative way. Make no mistake, this is very real. View it for yourself. If Forbes, the American Library Association and numerous other media are paying attention, perhaps you should too.
How will these new laws affect you? Well, here are a few examples:
To the Parents of Young Students:
Due to the new law, expect to see the cost of school supplies sky rocket. While those paper clips weren't originally intended for your student to use, they will need to be tested now that your 11-year-old needs them for his school project. This law applies to any and all school supplies (textbooks, pencils, crayons, paper, etc.) being used by children under 12.
To the Avid Reader:
Due to the new law, all children's books will be pulled from library and school shelves, as there is no exemption for them. That’s okay though, there's always television. Our children don’t need to learn the love of reading after all.
Article from the American Library Association http://www.wo.ala.org/districtdispatch/?p=1322
To the Lover of All Things Handmade:
Due to the new law, you will now be given a cotton ball and an instruction manual so you can make it yourself since that blanket you originally had your eye on for $50 will now cost you around $1,000 after it's passed testing. It won't even be the one-of-a-kind blanket you were hoping for. Items are destroyed in the testing process making one-of-a-kind items virtually impossible. So that gorgeous hand-knit hat you bought your child this past winter won’t be available next winter.
To the Environmentalist:
Due to the new law, all items in non-compliance will now be dumped into our already overflowing landfills. Imagine not just products from the small business owners, but the Big Box Stores as well. You can't sell it so you must toss it. Or be potentially sued for selling it. You can't even give them away. If you are caught, it is still a violation.
To the Second-Hand Shopper:
Due to the new law, you will now need to spend $20 for that brand new pair of jeans for your 2-year old, rather than shop at the Goodwill for second hand. Many resale shops are eliminating children's items all together to avoid future lawsuits.
To the Entrepreneur:
Due to this new law, you will be forced to adhere to strict testing of your unique products or discontinue to make and/or sell them. Small businesses will be likely to be unable to afford the cost of testing and be forced to close up shop. Due to the current economic state, you'll have to hope for the best when it comes to finding a new job in Corporate America.
To the Antique Toy Collector:
Due to the new law, you'd better start buying now because it's all going to private collection and will no longer be available to purchase. “Because the new rules apply retroactively, toys and clothes already on the shelf will have to be thrown out if they aren't certified as safe.” http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123189645948879745.html
To the American Economy:
Already struggling under an economy that hasn’t been this weak in decades, the American economy will be hit harder with the inevitable loss of jobs and revenues from suppliers, small businesses and consumers. The required testing is far too costly and restrictive for small businesses or individuals to undertake.
To the Worldwide Economy:
Due to this new law, many foreign manufacturers have already pulled out of the US market. You can imagine the impact of this on their businesses.
If you think this is exaggerating, here is a recent article from Forbes

Customer Appreciation Day!
On 1/22/09, get 15% off your purchase at all TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Homegoods, AJ Wright stores nationwide.
15% off of everything, no exclusions, and the prices will not be changed from what they currently are, if anything they will go down further before the discount day.
Anyone making a purchase the entire day is getting 15% off no questions asked. Extra 10% if applying for a credit card.
Cannot be used to put items into layaway.
They are doing this to apologize for the credit card number breach a while back, but it doesn't matter if you were affected by the breach or not, you still get 15% off your purchase on 1/22.
I mentioned this to some cashiers at my local Home Goods and they had no clue about this. I really think management would let their workers know what is going on. The cashiers told me they were already having a clearance and were not marking anything down. I wonder if they were told to not say anything today or just were not told.

Tina Fey at the Golden Globes
I was so sorry to see that Tina Fey had to waste her special moment admonishing website bloggers. She would have been better off being classy. Now they have more reasons to hate her and be mean.
I have no idea who Dianefan or cougar letter are or even if they exist but I know giving them publicity can't be the best way to go.
